Howdy Anglers!

We’re excited to share some details with you about how our bounty/rewards program will work. In this article, we’ll detail who’s eligible for what, how that is determined, and how the rewards will be distributed.

Boats vs Fish rewards

Two collections are immediately eligible to participate in the overall bounty and rewards system.

Our preseason collection, WTFBoats, is a collection of 111 unique boats that only early members of our community had access to mint. These boats were created in order to test our systems, and are intended to reward our early members as a thank you for helping to test all functionality before fully launching season 1. One of the benefits of holding a boat is that 1% of all mint revenue and future royalties from aftermarket sales are distributed to a pool allocated for boat holders.

Our Season 1 collection, WhatTheFish, is a collection of 10,000 unique fish and mermaids. One of the benefits of holding a fish or mermaid, is that 5% of all revenue and future royalties from aftermarket sales are distributed to a pool allocated for the bounty/lottery rewards system.

Weekly rewards

Tokens from eligible contracts are automatically included in the rewards program, no snapshots necessary. Our system allocates rewards every week to the individual ERC721 token, not the wallet that holds it. This means that it’s possible to trade a token without claiming the reward, and the new holder would be eligible to claim that reward!

Each week, the Fish and Game Warden will declare which trait(s) will be eligible for that week’s bounty (ie: Lobster Claw arms, Truncate tails, etc.). 100 total tokens will be randomly drawn for allocation in the rewards pool. 85 fish with at least one of the traits listed, 10 random mermaids, and 5 random tokens from the collection.

The rewards pools (Boats and Fish) will both be re-calculated monthly (frequency at which royalties are dispersed), and the fish pool specifically will be re-calculated weekly. All holders of boats and eligible fish will need to manually claim their rewards from our aquarium, as any unclaimed rewards are returned back into the main pool to be redistributed each week.

Fishing for Bounty

During off season, in-game fishing pools will take on a new function. Fishing at a pool during off-season will redirect you to a fish that’s currently for sale on Opensea and eligible to claim a reward. This system provides an easy and fun way to snipe fish at a discount, since you’ll be able to claim the reward after purchase!
